Getting the Most Out of Your Household Applicances

Appliance repair help

Did you know that refrigerators typically last 15 to 19 years, and dryers can work properly up to 15 years? Perhaps you have one of those items that is older than twenty years. Whether you have recently purchased new household appliances, or inherited them with your home, professional appliance repair can help you get the most out them.

The first thing that homeowners must do after purchasing a new appliance is to ask questions. Although appliance sales people and appliance installers should inform buyers about proper use, and basic care, for their new appliances, they should not count on it. Sure, under most circumstances, appliance delivery professionals will install an oven or dryer, go over all of its basic functions, and make sure it is functioning properly. However, customers cannot rely on these individuals to tell them everything they should know.

Appliance repair helpers recommend that buyers must never use an appliance feature with which they are unfamiliar without reading the directions. Appliance abuse and misuse is the most common cause of malfunction, and almost all could be prevented if appliance owners would have taken the time to read the directions. For instance, the primary cause of problems with washing machines is overloading and uneven loading. As with clothes dryers, many people will go several loads without changing the filters; in doing so they are wasting energy by up to 75 percent!

While washer repair or dryer repair services will probably be needed sooner than later, owners can avoid professional appliance repair help by using their machines correctly. It can be tempting to stuff every piece of dirty clothing into their washing machines, but small loads will be easier on their washers, get their clothes cleaner, and be good for their dryers, as well.

Household appliances are expensive, but the good news is that they can last for many years with proper care and usage. It is not uncommon for refrigerators and freezers to last 30 or 40 years; and washers have been known to work well for over 20 years! But in order for that to happen, they must be used wisely.

  1. How about 40 years for a refrigerator? My parents bought a whirlpool frige when they got married in 1974 and it’s still running today. There hasn’t been a single day is hasn’t run except for two ice storms.
